Will of William FORRYAN - Probate 25 June 1892

I William FORRYAN of Great Wigston of the County of Leicester butcher hereby revoke all Wills and Testamentary dispositions by me herea fore made and declare this to be my last and only Will and Testament

I appoint my friend George SHIPP of Great Wigston aforesaid coal merchant, my son William Goodwin FORRYAN and my son in law Edwin HURST of Walsall in the county of Stafford manager of an Iron foundry, Executos of this my Will

Wheras I have from time to time advanced sums of money to or for the benefit of my son John George FORRYAN which I consider althogether to exceed in value the share to which he would otherwise have been entitled under this my will and I therfore do not make any devise or bequest to him by this my Will.

I devise all those six closes of land containing together thirty two acres and two roads or thereabouts with the messuages and outbuildings standing thereon situated in Great Wigston aforesaid purchased by me from Captain BADDERLEY and now in the occupation of my brother Abraham FORRYAN but subject to any mortgage that may be existing thereon at my death unto my dear daughter Sarah Jane HURST the wife of the said Edwin HURST in fee simple.

I devise all those three messuages or tenements with the shops outbuildings gardens and appurtenances situated in Bell Street in Great Wigston aforesaid purchased by me of Mr Samuel BEDDON and now or late in the several occupations of Mrs Masson William WIGNALL and Thomas MOULD unto my dear daughter Clara FORRYAN

I devise all that messuages or tenament with the shop yard garden outbuildings and appurtenances situated in Bell Street in Great Wigston aforesaid purchased by me of the trustees under the will of Ann BRANSON and now in my own occupation and also all those two closes of land together containing six acres or thereabouts situated in the Aylestone Lane in the Parish of Great Wigston aforesaid purchased by me of William CLARISON and now also in my own occupation unto my siad son William Goodwin FORRYAN in free simple.

And I direct that my said daughter Clara FORRYAN and my said son William Goodwin FORRYAN shall take the said hereditaments so devested to them respectively as aforesaid free from any mortgages which may be existing thereon respectively at my death and that my executors shall pay off such mortages if any out of the proceeds of sale of my residuary real and personal estate

I devise all those five messuages cottages or tenaments with the yards, gardens, outbuildings and appurtenances situated in Great Wigston aforesaid purchased by me of Richard HAYMES and others and conveyed to me by an Indenture dated on or about the fourth day of June 1873 four of which front Long Street and the remaining one fronts Bell Street now in the several occupation of Mrs COLTMAN, George NOBLE, Samuel SEATON, Mrs Harriet SPENCER and Mrs HARDING and also that all messuages or tenament with the outbuilding garden and appurtenances purchased by me of Captain BADDERLEY situated at the courner of Bell Street and Long Street in Great Wigston aforesaid and adjourning the last mentioned messuages and now in the occupation of Isaac CLARKE and also of those three messuages or tenaments with the outbuildings garden and appurtanences two of which front Long Street aforesaid and the other fronts Bell Street aforesaid now in the respective occupations of Thomas LEE, James GILBERT and Isaac CLARKE and formerly belonging to my brother in law John Goodwin and also all those three closes of land containing together eight acres or thereabouts situated in Newton Lane in the parish of Great Wigston aforesaide purchased by me of the trustees under the will of the late Mr BERKLEY and now in my own occupation and also all mt real estate (except what I dispose of by this will or any codicil hereto) unto the said George SHIPP, William Goodwin FORRYAN and Edwin HURST upon trust to sell the same as soon as conveniently may be after my death and to stand possessed of the proceeds therof upon the trusts hereinafter declared.

I bequeath al my wines, liquors and consumable stores, household goods and furniture plate linen china books pictures and all other effects on or about my dwelling house at my death unto and equally between my two daughters Clara FORRYAN and Ann Elizabeth SANSOM the wife of Thomas SANSON and in case they cannot agree as to the division I direct my executors to divide the same in such manner as they shall think equitable and proper or if they think fit to sell the same or any part thereof and to divide the net proceeds of sale equally bteween my said two daughters.

I bequeath all my stock in trade utensils effects and things belonging to and used in my business of a butcher also my horse market cart and harness and also 25 of my shares in the Hide Skin and Fat Company Ltd unto my said son William Goodwin FORRYAN for his own absolute benefit.

I bequeath the legacy or sum of £1000 to my said daughter Ann Elizabeth Sansom absolutely

I bequeath to each of them the said George SHIPP and Edwin HURST the legacy of £5 each for his trouble in executing the trusts of this my Will.

I bequeathall my live and dead farming stock implements of husbandary and all my personal estate (except what I otherwise dispose by this my will and any codicil hereto) unto the said George SHIPP, William Goodwin FORRYAN and Edwin HURST upon trust to convert into money all such parts thereof as shall not consist of ready money and as to my residual personal estate and the net moneys to arise therefrom and all the net moneys to arise hereinafter called "Trust moneys" I declare that my trustees shallstand possessed of the same upon trust in the first place to pay thereout all my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and all expenses incident to the trusts of this my Will and also the pecuniary legarcies hereinbefore bequeathed and in the next place to set apart and appropriate thereout such sum or sums as shall be required for the purpose of equalizing the shares or portions given to my children by this my Will as hereinafter mentioned.

And then to pay and divide the residue of the said trust money unto and equally amonst my said children Sarah Jane HURST, Clara FORRYAN, Ann Elizabeth SANSOM, and William Goodwin FORRYAN absolutely provided always and I hereby declare that my trustees shall as conviently maybe here after my death cause a valuation to be made by some competent valuer of the several freehold properties hereinbefore devised to my children the said Sarah Jane HURST, Clara FORRYAN, Ann Elizabeth SANSOM, and William Goodwin FORRYAN and in the event of there being an inequality in the value thereof respectively I direct my trustees to apply out of my personal estate as hereinbefore provided such sum or sums as may be requisite for equalizing such values respectively and to pay the same to the devise or devises entitled thereto respectively to whom I bequeath the same accordingly and in case such equalised shares respectively shall not amount to or shall exceed in value the sum of £1000 I direct that the daughter Ann Elizabeth SANSON shall be reduced or increased according as the case may require.
